RICE HUSK WEANING RANGE
How do I dispose of a rice husk product in a compost?
Once you’ve finished with your rice husk tableware, you could either dispose of it in your green recycling waste bin or break it down to compost to form a soil fertiliser for plants and trees. To start the composting process, break the product down so fibres are exposed. We recommend using a hammer to break it down. The ideal composting conditions include oxygen, heat and the presence of micro-organisms. If you have all this you’ll be well on your way to make yourself some great fertiliser.
How long does each rice husk product take to biodegrade?
It takes approximately 3 months for each product to biodegrade in an industrial or well-maintained home compost heap. Once broken down they provide soil nutrients for you to add to your garden.
Is rice husk tableware hard wearing?
Husk exists to protect grains of rice as they grow. It is made up of 20% naturally occurring starch, so by nature it is light yet durable and free from any nasty toxins. We add a smooth, glossy coat to the product to give it extra strength so it can handle up to 120 degrees and can be used in the microwave and dishwasher.
BAMBOO WEANING RANGE
Are the Nuby Bamboo products environmentally friendly?
Our bamboo tableware is made from 100% all-natural bamboo. It contains no toxins, nasties or hidden surprises. It is a sustainable and biodegradable material. The small amount of silicone used is not a natural material but it’s great for suction to keep your little one mess free at mealtime.
